There are many different views on Valentine’s Day! Some people hate it, others love it, and some just do not really care at all! I enjoy Valentine’s Day I guess you could say! I love LOVE!!!! Hahahaha!!! Most people associate “dating” or “marriage” with Valentine’s Day, but that is what we have made it. All that is fine and grand, but Valentine’s Day can be so much more than that! It might be your goal next year to send your mom something, or your grandmother, or the little elderly lady who lives down the street may just want some company! Valentine’s Day is all about loving others! Not just for people who are in a relationship or married! Now I will say, my boyfriend and I celebrated Valentine’s Day! He is so sweet and kind, loving, thoughtful, caring, compassionate, self-less, he has such a huge heart for people, and he LOVES the Lord and me!! And I am so blessed to be able to call  him my boyfriend! Thank the Lord! 🙂

Anywho, something really stuck out to me yesterday and got my mind to thinking!! Every Sunday I go to 2 church services! I go to my church and then go to my boyfriend’s church! Its great and so much fun!!! This Sunday, one of the preachers did his sermon on LOVE!!!! But, not the love that we associate with Valentine’s Day! He preached on the LOVE that CHRIST has for his CHILDREN!!! I have never stopped and just tried to think about how much God really loves me, until yesterday! I was just intrigued with this sermon (not that I am not intrigued with any other sermon), but I was really trying to understand this one! It’s like nothing was distracting me! So, I just sat there and listened, soaking it all in!

It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to fully understand how much God loves us! We will never know the full extent of how much God loves us, until we are in heaven, worshipping at his feet!!! But, it really overwhelms me to know how much God really does love me! You see, I sin every single day. And sometimes, it’s the same sins over and over and over again. And it takes me forever to realize that I am doing them over and over, but finally I realize it and get it right. But, no matter what I do, God still forgives me and his LOVE for me never ever changes!!! OMGGGG!!!!!!!! Is that not incredible??? It’s crazy to me yet so completely amazing!!! CHRIST LOVES US SO MUCH THAT WE CAN NEVER FULLY UNDERSTAND IT!!!!!

So, after thinking of how much Christ really does love me, I started thinking about how I do not love people the way I need to. That is something else the preacher talked about. As Christians, we are supposed to love our brothers and sisters in Christ! So many times I am so selfish. And I will admit it. Sometimes I do not feel like talking to people, and avoid them, or I don’t necessarily want to do what my mom wants me to. And I know that is little maybe to you, but I love my parents and I need to show that by obeying them no matter if I don’t “feel” like putting away my clothes or whatever. And that is just one example. My prayer is that the Lord would give me a bigger passion for people and for the lost souls. A HUGE thing I want to care about more is the lost people I come into contact with every single day! Honestly, I do not know if all my friends are saved or not. And I’ve been in school with them for 12 years now. How sad is that……It’s honestly heart breaking, to myself. That is something I am personally praying for!! Plus, who doesn’t just want a bigger heart?

Love is such a great thing! But, the Love that Christ has for his children is unexplainable, and it is unlike any other love out there. If you do not have a personal relationship with him PLEASE talk to me and I would love to help you! Because He is waiting for you and He will always love you and take care of you no matter who you are or what you’ve done! His grace is sufficient every single day! Come to him!!! HE LOVES YOU!!!!!

Thank you to the ones who read this blog! I pray the Lord spoke to you in some way like he did my heart! Even though Valentines Day is over, you can show love and kindness to people any day! Not just Valentine’s Day! Show some love this week!!!!!! And Shine your light for Christ!!!!

Never Give Up

Hey guys!! I hope your week is going great!! I have been home sick the last few days, but I think I am getting better! Thank goodness! So, while I’ve been at home sick, I watched the movie “Soul Surfer” like 6 times no joke! In a row!!!! My family called me crazy, but for some reason I just could not watch anything else! And I’ll be honest, I am watching it again as I type this blog!!!!

If you have not seen the movie, it is based on the true story of surfer, Bethany Hamilton. She was the girl who got her arm bitten of by a shark. Now, she could have said that her surfing career was over and just given up but she didn’t!! She continued to surf with one arm! It was no where near easy, but she just kept trying, got stronger, and faced her fear.

The movie has a TONNNN of GREAT lessons in it! I mean like so many! After watching it 6 times, I started picking up on all the movie was trying to teach. I would like to share just a few of them!!

1) NEVER GIVE UP!!!!! In the movie, and real life, this girl gets her arm bitten off. I hit little stumps in my life and I automatically give up. What does this say about me? It says that I don’t believe in myself enough. If Bethany can get her arm bitten off by a shark, and still get up and continue surfing, then goodness gracious I can overcome any obstacle in my life.

2) IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE GOING THROUGH SOMETHING, GET A NEW PERSPECTIVE!!!! Carrie Underwood was in this movie and that is something she said. She had a close up of a fly’s eye and she made the students guess what it was! They all had good, but wrong answers. Then she showed them what it actually was. So, when we go through things in our lives, we look at it from up-close. We need to try to get  new perspective on things! Maybe that could help us! So if you have been going through the same old stuff all the time, try looking at it from a different perspective.

3) DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT STUPID THINGS!!! In the movie, Bethany goes on a mission trip to a place that had just recently had a tsunami. She is holding this lady’s hand while her teammate wraps the lady’s head. While her head is being wrapped, the lady is telling what happened. The lady wrapping her head is a translator and this is what the poor lady said happened. It was just normal day and she was out by the shore getting some crabs (or something like that). All of a sudden the wave came from nowhere and wiped out everything. She said there were not many survivors. She also said that she lost her family and that she was so sad and she began to cry. And Bethany had to get up because she began crying. What I got from that scene was of all the things i complain about, I sound stupid for even thinking about complaining about them. People go through WAYYY WORSE things than I have ever gone through in my entire life. This lady in this movie had just lost everything and here I am complaining because I have too much school work to do. It really made me realize that I need to stop and think before a complaint comes out of my mouth.

In my last blog I talked about how the Lord had given me a burden to go on a mission trip. Well, I realized my love for missions and helping children AGAIN through this movie! On the same mission trip that Bethany went on, she had an experience with a little orphan boy. Everyone on the island was terrified of the water. It was a beautiful day and the water was pretty. There were all kinds of surf boards lying around. Bethany asked the little boy if he wanted to go swim in the water and he said no and went to hide. So, Bethany got the surf board and went out to the water. The little boy was watching her and she kept telling him to come on. She would get more and more into the water. Every time she would turn her back, the little boy would scoot a little closer! It was the CUTEST thing ever!!! Finally, Bethany comes back to where the little boy is sitting and reaches her hand out and he grabs her hand and she takes him to the water to play on the surfboard! Then, after seeing the little boy in the water, everyone saw that the water was okay and they all got in! It was so amazing and I cried and cried, every time I watched it! I want to go on a mission trip even more now!!!

Soul Surfer has some great lessons in it! The real Bethany Hamilton is a hero and a role model! So thankful she never gave up! And she even says that the reason she never gave up is because of Jesus Christ! And she is so right! Christ is always with us!! Sometimes it may not feel like he is there, but when we least expect it, he will show up! We just have to believe that!! Have a GREAT Tuesday everyone!! Shine your light for Christ!!!

The B-I-B-L-E…..Yes That’s the Book for Me!!

Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  I am sure we have all heard this verse right? It is a wonderful verse, and our purpose of why we are here on earth every day the Lord gives us. Do you know where we can find this verse? The BIBLE!!!!!!!

This weekend I attended my last DNow as a student! It was such a blast and I loved with connecting with my youth group and small group and just worshipping Christ! During the morning worship Saturday morning, I realized 2 things. We watched this video (I will probably mess this up but I will try my best to remember exactly what happened) about a group of people in a foreign country who only had the Old Testament written in their translation. These people read that part of the Bible every day and just loved praising the Lord and learning all about Him! Well, eventually, they got the New Testament written for them to read and someone sent it to them. This people group had a day set aside of a huge celebration just because they were getting the New Testament to read! They had a ceremony and when they opened all the boxes of those Bibles, they prayed over them and prayed to God praising Him for this and His Word! WOWWWW is all I could think!! It was so moving!

So, the first thing I learned from that video is that I sometimes take the Bible for granted and I need to stop! I have a full copy of God’s word sitting beside my bed. I have access to it all the time. I even have an app of just the Bible! All at my fingertips!! And too often do I become “too busy” to take 5 minutes out of my day to spend time in the scriptures. I am ashamed and that video made me feel that. Those people had a celebration just for the fact that they were receiving the New Testament!! Why don’t I celebrate and take time out of my every day schedule to read and praise God that I not only have a Bible to read, but that I have the FREEDOM to read it and worship him!! Just reading the verse of the day on my Bible app or a short devotion is not what it takes to grow in my relationship withe Christ. The Bible is the MOST precious thing we can ever own! It really is a precious jewel! I am going to stop taking it for granted! It is my way to seek God and see what he has to say about everything in life! The Bible is a gift to me and you, so lets use it and apply it to our lives!!!

I have all of a sudden realized that I have a major PASSION to work with children!! I have been working in the 4-year old children’s class on Wednesday nights at my church and I have had so much fun teaching them about Jesus and how much he loves them!! The other night I actually got to teach the class because the teacher was out. That was also much fun! The children actually listened to me while I taught the Bible story!! And when I questioned them afterwards, they KNEW some answers!!! Thank the Lord!!! So anyways, watching that video during Dnow, I got this small feeling. I really can’t describe the feeling. It wasn’t a big feeling, but just a small feeling of a burden to go on a mission trip and help children. I know it was a feeling from the Lord, so I am not going to ignore it. Now, I do not know where He wants me to go, or when, or how. But it’s okay! Because now I can pray about that and in his time, he will reveal to me everything I need to know! I have no idea what this burden will lead to or what it will look like, but I know God has a great plan for me and I can’t wait to journey with Him though this!!

What I wrote this for is this: I want you to not take the Bible for granted like I do sometimes. I think if we were all honest, we could all agree that we need to spend more time in God’s word. How else are we going to seek after God and hear from Him? We all have a copy at our fingertips, with BOTH the New Testament and the Old Testament! Let’s celebrate!! Let’s carry our Bibles around like its our phone! I am talking to myself too! The other reason I wrote this blog is that I want you to find your passion and RUN with it!! With God ALLLLLL things are POSSIBLE!!!!! We each have something that we are passionate about! Find yours, figure out how you can use it for God’s glory, and jump in with two feet, praying and trusting God! He will make all things work out in his time! Even if you aren’t sure where he will take you with your passion, it’s okay! Just like I got a small burden to go on a mission trip, I have no clue what that means, that was just my sign to start praying and finding out what God wants me to do with that burden and passion! Live for Christ, read the Bible, pray about your passions, and Pray!!
